Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be on insulin to use a CGM?

No. Continuous glucose monitors and glucose biosensors can be leveraged by people who are not insulin dependent. People with all types of diabetes and even the general public can benefit from CGMs and glucose biosensors. Insurance coverage may vary depending on your health condition, which makes the availability of over-the-counter glucose biosensors even more helpful for those who need them.

Is every CGM device covered by my insurance?

CGM coverage varies by insurance type. Consult your insurance provider directly to determine your coverage options. Edgepark will attempt to support you throughout this process to determine your eligibility and guide you to the best choice for your needs.

How long is the process to start using a CGM?

The process for getting started with a CGM depends on multiple factors, including insurance verification, prescription authorization, and our ability to connect with you and your healthcare provider. In many cases, the process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. We will do our best at Edgepark to help streamline the process for you so you can get started with CGM therapy quickly.
